James Jaeger is a passionate bassist, pianist, and educator based in the Chicago area. Known for his commitment to his art, James has performed with numerous academic, regional and local orchestras including the Minnesota Orchestra, University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, University of Illinois Wind Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and the Milikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. James is also an enthusiastic advocate of music education, offering private piano, bass, and cello lessons, and visiting local public schools.

James attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Double Bass Performance under the tutelage of Michael Cameron and minored in Jazz Double Bass with Larry Gray. James greatly studied on the integration of music, emotion, and performance with leading Beethoven Scholar Dr. William Kinderman. Because of his musical commitment and achievements, James was the recipient of the Bussey Scholarship (2015), and Pauline V. and Ralph C. Morgan Memorial Scholarship (2019). James also graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics.
